Our landscapes are
Inspired by nature and crafted with integrity.
We help clients see their properties in a new light. From thoughtful, creative design to the experience, knowledge, and hard work behind every phase, each project is carried through with intention—resulting in a finished space that feels natural and uniquely suited to its surroundings
We focus on all aspects of landscape construction, from design to installation.
We create sustainable, functional, aesthetically pleasing landscapes, with a strong emphasis on detail, craftsmanship, and thoughtful design.
From patios and walkways to retaining walls and garden beds, our work highlights the connection between each property and its surrounding environment.
We’re fortunate to work in the lakes region and are committed to protecting and supporting the health of local lake ecology. As a LakeSmart certified company, we value the beauty and significance of these natural spaces and feel honored that our work can contribute to the wellbeing of the lakes, local residents, and surrounding communities.
Our story
Native Notions began with a truck, a dump trailer, a degree, and a vision.
Matt Gauthier founded Native Notions in 2007 after working in the field as a crew member and foreman in both Colorado and Maine. His experience and the knowledge he gained from earning his degree in Horticulture with a focus in Landscape Design from Colorado State University, helped him formulate the direction for his own company.
As a small business, Matt wears many hats and prefers the hands on approach and values the connection that he has to each project. He personally meets with all clients, hand draws designs and selects plants that fit each location, and is on-site for construction. His crew members look forward to landscaping season and many stay on for years due to the camaraderie and pride they experience at Native Notions. Matt has been fortunate to have the support of his crews over the years and appreciates the experience and care they bring to the business.
This foundation continues to guide Native Notions today—bringing together experience, craftsmanship, and a strong connection to the land to create lasting outdoor spaces.
